09 NCTSG AGM PRESIDENT'S REPORT

At the AGM, the following appointments to NCTSG were made:

President: Debrah Lombe

Secretary: Cathy Smillie

Vice President: Peter Lleonart

Vice President: Zeljko Bedic

The following positions on the NCTSG executive remain unfilled at this stage, and we are seeking nominations from the tennis parent body for these positions. Anyone can nominate for these positions by contacting Deborah Lombe.

Treasurer: The treasurer’s role for the NCTSG is not onerous but is critical to the functioning of the support group.Our accounts are fairly simple with few transactions and income/expenditure reports to the executive are usually required only six times per year. A standardised reporting format has already been established by the Newington P&F body. The treasurer needs to be able to collect and bank our cash takings from gelato sales fortnightly during the tennis season.

Membership Secretary: Our support group is keen to make sure we keep in touch with all Newington tennis supporters so we would like to develop and manage our tennis contact database. This role will suit someone who would like to contribute to the support group from home or work without needing to attend meetings. Written material for distribution will be provided.

Saturday Morning Gelato Coordinator: Sales of our prize winning gelato are a major fundraiser for our group and we would love to extend this to Saturday mornings. If you can help, we’d love to hear from you.

TSG spring 2009 newsletter

Tennis Support Group Wins Telstra Kids Fund Grant
Tennis Top Shots Project at Newington — Newington is about to introduce professional video analysis of players’ technique to its Tennis program. This exciting addition to Tennis is possible because the NCTSG won a grant from the Telstra Kids Fund. The proceeds of the grant will be used to purchase computer software and video equipment, which allows coaches to examine player technique whilst on court. Coaches can then compare the players’ strokes with top professional players! The support group and the Newington Tennis coaching staff are very appreciative of Telstra’s support for this project.
