David Hine

David has a keen interest in self-esteem and pastoral care programs for primary students

David Hine has 24 years experience as a Head of Primary at four independent schools in Australia.

His most recent position was as Head of Primary at John Paul College (2001-2006), at Daisy Hill in Queensland, which entailed leadership of the Primary School (Child Care Centre – Year 6) with an enrolment of 1150 boys and girls and 120 staff.

From 1998–2000 David was the Federal President of IPSHA, an association of 390 independent primary school Heads in Australia, giving him a comprehensive overview and understanding of independent primary education in Australia.

David has a keen interest in self-esteem and pastoral care programs for primary students, having been involved in the co-writing and implementation of various focus programs.

David comes to Newington with an extensive experience in boys' schools and an excellent theoretical and practical framework for understanding boys and their particular learning needs.

His interests include reading, theatre, classical music, walking and Australian Rules football.
