Pastoral Care
Pastoral Care Based on Mutual Respect The Newington College family is a Christian community in which members are able to contribute in an atmosphere of mutual care, respect and encouragement. At Lindfield/Wyvern House there is a strong emphasis on assisting a boy to come to a better understanding of himself and the world around him, so he learns to accept responsibility and acquire important leadership skills. Our Pastoral Care program is based on respect: respect for self, respect for others and respect for the environment. Guidelines for appropriate behaviour are clearly laid out and effective behaviour management policies are in place. Our strong pastoral care program is expressed through the positive and vibrant interactions between the boys and their teachers on a daily basis and is supported by the Chaplain and the work of the School Counsellor, who are here two days/week (Lindfield) three days/week (Wyvern House). Working closely with the students, staff and parents their work contributes directly to the pastoral care of the boys in particular, and they are always happy to work with families on any academic, social or personal matters. |
