Drama Groups at Newington College

Production Crew

This is a great opportunity for boys in Year 9 and 10 who wish to further develop their skills for backstage in performance. As Newington College have plenty of events there is a great scope for the boys to develop their skills and apply them in real life situations.

The group meet weekly on Tuesday in the Old Chapel from 18 March to 3 June. The course covers topics such as Stage Management, Sound, Lighting and Video. These boys become invaluable to the Drama department as they assist with the three major drama productions.

Year 7 Drama Club Production

This group is fun while also building self confidence and long lasting friendships. The boys develop skills throughout the year through performance workshops. The Year 7 Drama Club produces a performance at the end of each year which is played to the whole school and wider community.

Any student in Year 7 wishing to be involved in performance should select 'Drama Club' on his Creative Arts Program form inside the Year 7 Orientation Pack.

This group meets in the Old Chapel every Monday from the beginning of Term 2 through to Term 4.

Middle School Production

As the boys in Year 9 and 10 gain self confidence there is an opportunity for them to express themselves further with the Middle School Production.

Performing in a production is very satisfying and exciting. After weekly rehearsals on a Sunday during Term 2 and 3 there is a week of performances in September of each year. These performances are played to an audience of parents, friends, staff and students from other schools in the community. The atmosphere in the Old Chapel is electric!

Senior Production

The Senior Production is a highlight in the College calendar. This group is open to any boy in Year 11 or 12, usually inviting students from either MLC School or PLC Sydney to perform.

Sunday rehearsals start during Term 4 and continue through to the end of Term 1.
