IB Diploma Programme

Newington is the only GPS school that offers boys a
choice between the Higher School Certificate (HSC)
and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB). The IB for Years 11 and 12 has been offered at Newington College since 2008.

The IB Diploma Programme aims to increase global awareness and intellectual rigour.

The International Baccalaureate Organisation "aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the IBO works with schools, governments and international organisations… to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment."

THE IB AT NEWINGTON

For 2009 Year 12 IB students, the last official school day is Friday 23 October.

IB examinations commence Tuesday 3 November and conclude Friday 20 November.
