PHILOSOPHY AND RELIGIOUS STUDIES
WelcomeThe Newington Philosophy and Religious Studies Department reflects a broad liberal approach to education in the traditions of the Uniting Church. It aims to:
Freedom of thought and academic enquiry are highly valued, with many opportunities for student-led investigation. Debate and discussion form a major part of the teaching process. The Department organises a lively program of conferences and special events. HSC students take part in an annual Studies of Religion conference, with students from other schools; there is an annual Theory of Knowledge seminar for IB students; and regular visits from local academics and representatives of faith communities.
