Welcome to the Visual Arts Department

The Visual Arts department at Newington has a commitment to serving the creative interests of its students and to exploring the cultural, structural, subjective and postmodern frames for making and understanding art. We seek to contribute to the understanding and enjoyment of the visual arts by providing students with a range of classes, exhibitions, excursions, artists in residence programme, life-drawing workshops, sculpture, photography, graphic and computer generated art.

Mandalas

We enable students to use the terms and criteria of criticism in the visual arts to evaluate their own work as well as the great works of the past. The department includes several studios and a gallery space.

Head of Visual Arts: Dr Neville Dawson
