Argentina and Brazil Football TourSUNDAY 29 JUNE – TUESDAY 15 JULY In the July holidays in 2008 we are offering the opportunity for approximately 30 boys to travel to Argentina and Brazil to take part in a football development tour. As well as providing the boys with a fantastic itinerary of sight seeing and activities, there will be a number of games played against schools in Buenos Aires and Rio De Janeiro. The tour will be open to boys of all ages and ability levels, as we will be forming two teams from successful applicants, an open team (16 and opens), and a junior team (14 and 15s). There will be 4 members of staff travelling with the boys. This will be a once in a lifetime chance for the boys and spaces are strictly limited. The estimated cost is $5600. If you have any questions regarding the tour, please contact the MiC Football, Mr Maxwell. Contacts
2007State Final – NSW All Schools CupMONDAY 17 SEPTEMBER Westfield Sports High 1 defeat Newington College 0 On Monday night in the Shire, in a fascinating game watched by over 400 faithful and extremely vocal Newington fans, our boys were beaten when they conceded a contentious free kick with 5 minutes remaining. Our boys played up to and beyond all expectations and are to be commended on producing probably the best quality game of schoolboy football that most spectators will have ever seen. Westfield are the benchmark in all sport and to have come so close to a State title is an outstanding result. There were some performances that will be the highlight of many player’s careers, and at the risk of leaving anyone out I would like to acknowledge all those who played their part. Congratulations to all the players who have played their part throughout the season, the coach Mr Mountain and Mr Dene for his expert guidance, Mr Savage and Matt Squires for their pivotal support roles, and to all the supporters who helped herald in a new era of Newington Football.
