Newington has two full-time Counsellors, both of whom are registered psychologists specialising in educational psychology. Stan Comino is based at the Stanmore Campus and Sonia Sultan provides services to Wyvern and Lindfield.

The role of the School Counsellor is to counsel students and parents, especially in educational, emotional, personal and family areas, and to help the boys to:

  • know and understand themselves, their strengths and weaknesses, and through this self-understanding, develop a better knowledge of the relationships amongst their own interests, achievements and opportunities
  • develop self-acceptance, a sense of personal worth, a belief in their own competence, a trust in oneself and an accompanying trust and acceptance of others
  • develop responsibility for their choices and behaviour and their studies; to be aware that their behaviour is goal-orientated and for them to consider the consequences for making a decision
  • modify any faulty concepts and convictions that they may possess to enable them to develop more wholesome attitudes towards themselves and others.

If you have any enquiries, please contact Mr Stan Comino at the Stanmore Campus on 9568 9333.
