STUDENT CARE

Key objectives are to provide higher levels of individual student care and to develop stronger relationships between school and home.

Student Services

On the Secondary campus at Newington College, the Pastoral Care structure is divided into Middle School – Years 7 to 9 – and Senior School – Years 10 to 12. This enables high levels of individual student care and stronger relationships between school and home.

This concept of Middle and Senior Schools recognises that the needs of students change as they progress through Secondary School, and in particular provides stability across important academic transition phases: Year 8 into 9 and Year 10 into 11. At Newington the model is aimed at providing student care that is appropriate for different stages of adolescent development and recognises that each student has individual needs.

Central to this structure are the tutors and mentors who are in normal circumstances the first point of contact between school and home. Good communication is vital in any relationship and this is no different between parents and staff at Newington.

The Middle School (Years 7-9) is under the leadership of Mr Jeff Snare while Mr Paul Bourke is Head of the Senior School (Years 10-12).
